About Us
Greene Countrie Garden Club was organized in the early 1970's when a group of young women often spent afternoons discussing their gardens together. Stories of successes as well as frustrations were exchanged in hopes of beautifying their own homes. The Greene Countrie Garden Club was born.
The name comes from William Penn's plans for Philadelphia. His original instructions for the planning of the city required that the city include "gardens or orchards or fields, that it may be a greene countrie town."
Today, members of the Club not only enjoy talking about gardens. We go on tours, listen to lectures, and enjoy meeting together to exchange plants and dispense helpful advice. Many enjoy getting involved with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's "Philadelphia Flower Show" either volunteering or exhibiting.
Members of the Club include people with varying levels of knowledge about gardening and flower arranging. The group is a wonderful place to go to get inspiration, increase your garden knowledge, and just plain have fun with a bunch of lovely like-minded people. Join us!
